Frequently asked Chameleone questions

Uganda Online - Sat, 06/24/2017 - 17:01

Frequently asked Chameleone questions- Part 1

How long have you been doing music? I began my singing career in 1990 as a DJ at a night club in Maganjo while studying at Progressive Secondary School. I was later signed by Kenyan record label, Ogopa DJ's.

Ads (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

My first album was Bageya and it was done in 2000, followed by Mama Mia in 2001. Njokaribu and Golden Vice followed in that order. Next was Mambo Bado in 2004, Kipepeo in 2005, Shida Za Dunia in 2006. Sivyyo Ndivyo and Katupakase were the 2007 albums. 2009 was for Bayuda followed by Vumilia in 2010, Valu Valu in 2012, Badilisha in 2013 and Tubonge in 2014.

Other than music what else do you do for a living? I have been saving for the last 20 years. When I'm not on stage, I'm a farmer. I have 20 acres of land in Mityana, 1 square mile in Mubende. I have 400 goats and 280 cows on all my farms. I have acres of maize, I also have several apartments where I get rent, Daniella is in charge.

What is your take on the local music awards? Every artist deserves to be awarded for the work well done, but some organizers don't understand the music industry. They fabricate generations of musicians.

It's been a while since you last won an award! - I not winning an award is okay, let them win their awards while I make the money. Awards are needed by upcoming artistes to establish their careers, I built my career on a solid foundation with amazing love from my fans all over Africa and beyond..
