Campus Bee - Fri, 01/13/2017 - 11:26

The ministry of education and sport and Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Thursday released the 2016 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) with Kampala Parents’ School emerging as best performing school in the country when it comes to Mathematics.

“This is to congratulate our pupils upon being the best in Math country wide in the just released PLE results by the Uganda National Examinations Board. We are so honored and humbled by this achievement.
Our sincere appreciation goes out to our dear students for their endless efforts, teachers, non-teaching staff, our esteemed parents and well-wishers. Thank you once again for your continued support.” Daphne Kato, the school principle said of their achievement.

The school which prides itself with start of art learning facilities and qualified teachers saw 200 pupils out of the 274 who sat for PLE pass in first division while the remaining 74 passed in super division two.

The released national PLE exams of 2016 indicated an improved general performance with a failure reduction of 9.2 percent. The boys’ failure rate was registered at 5.3% and while that of girls was at 7.7%. Janet Museveni, the minister of education, expressed delight seeing that more than 50% of the pupils who completed primary education last year were female.
The results showed that male candidates beat their female counterparts; this is according to UNEB Chairperson Prof. Mary Okwakol. There was marked improved performance especially in English, with girls performing better than boys.

In the past, poor handwriting has been the undoing for some candidates. But this time round, according to UNEB, examiners reported that handwriting was more legible and candidates were more detailed in their answering of questions, with fuller sentences.

Museveni said that since the introduction of UPE, PLE candidature had increased. However, urban schools performed better than rural schools, with non-UPE candidates shown to have performed better than their UPE counterparts.

As a new semester for Kyambogo students is about to commence, the countdown is on for university leaders especially the guild to hand over offices.

There is that course mate who will change the dress code to office wear and start befriending every one and that’s an indicator of political intentions. Today, we bring you a one John Tumwijukye who declared his intentions to contest for guild presidency at Kyambogo University.

WHO IS TUMWIJUKYE

Tumwijukye is a first-year Education student who already holds a Bachelor’s degree in SWASA from Bishop Stuart University and a certificate in Administrative law and Data planning from Makerere University.

He has also been at Kyambogo before where he pursued a Diploma in Education from 2011 to 2014.

Tumwijukye seems not to be a novice in leadership as his CV shows he has worked with many NGO’s especially Building Resources Across Africa (BRAC) from where he advocated for increased Women’s access to finances and NUDIPU as an aide for disabled people.

Apart from being employed,  Tumwijukye also employs others and himself as Campus Bee has learned he is the CEO A & J Enterprises – a Nursery and Primary school in Kamwenge.

PREVIOUS LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

During his stay at KYU from 2011-2014, he was the General Secretary of Kyambogo FDC chapter and the President of the Kyambogo Government Sponsored Students Association.

In the recent national elections, he contested as a Member of Parliament in Kibaale sub county though didn’t go through

He says during his reign as president Kyambogo University Government Sponsored Students Association (KYUGSSA), he petitioned the university over old structures, something that he says led to the current renovations at the Banda-based institution.

He also organized a march to ministry of Education to forward the above petition from where the ministry endorsed new structures at the university.

Tumwijukye is also the brains behind the Campus Portal for Online registration.

Nobert Mao meets Makerere DP chapter, pledges financial support

Campus Bee - Fri, 01/13/2017 - 10:31

Democratic Party (DP) president Nobert Mao has applauded Makerere University students for cherishing values of the party and making the institution a stronghold of the oldest political party in Uganda.

Officiating at the handover of the Uganda Young Democrats (UYD) Makerere chapter, Mao thanked Makerere students for overtime embracing DP values of “truth and justice”, and repeatedly voting UYD candidates to guild presidency.
The former guild president also reminisced about his hotly contested election in which he tussled it against the then state-sponsored late Brig. Noble Mayombo.

“The late Mayombo was a candidate you wouldn’t love to face in an election,” Mao said. He described this race as one that was between the haves and have nots.

Mao observed that the incoming UYD executive has an uphill task to not just maintain what is there but to better the chapter and make it more successful than it is now.
He further pledged material and financial support to the chapter in the realisation of their goals and in the spreading of the values of the DP among youths.

The former presidential candidate oversaw the old executive of Isaac Otuku handover to a new one that will be steered by Law School GRC Steven Nuwagira.

The new executive also comprises of Complex hall’s GRC Shadia Bayiga (vice chairperson), Anne Mary Musiimenta (Speaker) and Kabanyoro hall chairman Abbey Lubega Akampa (General Secretary) among others.

UCU finally gets a vice guild president

Campus Bee - Fri, 01/13/2017 - 09:27

Prisca Amongin, the Guild President of Uganda Christian University, Mukono campus, has appointed David Emolot to the position of vice guild president.

Emolot is a second year student of Development Studies (BDS). He has previously served in the UCU guild government of 2015/2016 in the capacity of Member of Parliament for BDS and his tenure will be ending January this year.

Emolot David

There will be elections this semester for the few courses that were not represented in the September semester last year.

It should be noted that the position had been vacant since last semester after the “obvious” choice, Brian Mwesigwa declined the appointment. There were a number of concerns raised by students about his appointment, with rumors that the guild would be dragged to court for choosing a candidate that did not have the qualifications for the office.

The replacement was then shifted to the January Semester. The semester started with students raising eyebrows as who would assume the office. However, the wait was not long.

Emolot will be vetted today by the Guild Parliament.

ICONZ - Fri, 01/13/2017 - 06:01

We’re usually told that lying is bad. It’s not hard to see why. A lie is a form of deception that fills the world with distrust, is morally wrong, and becomes a chore on the liar’s mind. On the other hand, lying is human nature and even necessary at certain times. Let’s not kid ourselves. Check ...

Allan Toniks Returns With A New RnB/Dancehall Tune

Chano8 - Thu, 01/12/2017 - 19:18

Allan Toniks almost ended the year 2016 badly but by the grace of the almighty God, the artiste survived a fatal car accident that almost left him lifeless on Saturday the 24th of December last year. All that is now history with the latest news being that he released a fresh tune dubbed ‘Sibalaba’ a Luganda word meaning ‘I don’t see them’.

It’s an RnB/Dancehall love song in which Toniks expresses his undying love for his girlfriend that has blindfolded him in a way that, he can’t even think of any other girls because of the overwhelming love he has for her.

‘Sibalaba’ the song produced by D’ King

In a typical slow RnB tempo, he begins the song telling the girl that, he is not really into any other girls although they act to seduce him, he is determined to love and never to leave his sexy girl Jojo who makes him have sleepless nights. He tells her to stick around every time she comes to his house for a visit because she takes his and other men’s attention.

In the second verse his attitude and tone changes completely as he complains about the things the girl does in his presence when she knows he can’t resist, a thing that forces him to go gaga about her, melting him to the point of providing her with anything she needs. He then goes ahead and declares that, nobody loves her more than he does and concludes the verse singing in his mother tongue Runyankore where he says that he wants to marry her.

He then repeats the chorus before concluding the song with the last verse where he promises eternal love and ends by sending regards to all the beautiful ladies in Kampala, Uganda, Africa and the world at large.

Conclusion

If Toniks was to celebrate surviving the nasty accident that almost took his life on Christmas Eve, there is no better way than releasing this kind of smooth RnB that brings joy to the heart with its easy flow and Dancehall beats fused into it to bring in life and energy. D’King decides like in most of his productions keeps it simple but memorable.

I’m sleeping with a married man and I think I’m falling in love- MUBS babe

Campus Bee - Thu, 01/12/2017 - 19:03

My name is Gloria and I am a third year student at Makerere University Business School (MUBS). They say MUBS girls are hoes but we also fall in love, it’s relative.

I started sleeping with a married man a few months ago, I don’t regret any part of it because he gives me all that I want regardless of the fact that he is my dad’s age (This makes me less of a hoe, right?). Unfortunately, as my years at campus move closer towards the end, I have started developing feelings of love for him.

I am jealous of his wife, his kids, and I want him all to my self now. When I sleep, I dream of him, I think I am falling in love yet it wasn’t the initial plan, what should I do?

Hey Gloria, you are a certified hoe, that’s for sure, but who said hoes don’t get feelings too? The only problem is that you are falling in love with the wrong guy, he has a wife and kids and I trust you don’t want to spoil that.

How would you feel if the girl banging your dad wants y’all out or how would you feel if the babe banging your husband is now in love with him?

All I can say is that you should cut ties with this man, get a guy your size, fall in love, and all will be well. You don’t want to be the person that broke a happy family.
